because they are honest, powerful emotions...both of which show some sort of emotional attachment to the object of the emotion.....I always feel that the "opposite" of love is not hate, but apathy---a complete lack of feeling of any kind for a person.

At times its a love/ hate relationship. Some would even say you 'can't live with them, and you can't live without them'. Although I'd have to say I love my husband and there is no hate involved. *(^_^)*

it just is. you love them but dont like what they do, they mite upset you with some words or actions but it doesnt stop you loving them.
