if the really large ones are for real. These 12" long 7" diameter toys. They are very common to see so I assume that they are enjoyable for at least some ladies. I would like the thought of her trying one but I do not want to waste the $50 if they are only something a man would buy and woman would/ can’t use. So, are these really usable for normal ladies or should I skip it and stay with the smaller items?

depends on the personal preferences of the woman, I would say. . . but a "normal" woman would probably not appreciate something that would otherwise fit snuggly in an elephant.
I would start smaller or normal size, or if you want, get a couple of different sizes and types, especially if this is her first. no sense in scaring her to death. if larger is your (and her) thing, work your way up. vibrators work well for most women as well and you can use it along the outside while using the real thing. get something smooth at first - sometimes the "lifelike latex" ones don't work very well without a lot of lube.
$50 also seems kind of steep. I would check out a mail order catalog or online company like Adam and Eve (www.adameve.com). they're a big company and very reliable (just make sure you watch out for all the hidden charges like "rush processing"). you should be able to get some around $20 and usually get a lot of free stuff along with it.

I'm gonna say NO WAY on the 7'' diameter. Not only beacuse of the pain, OUCH!! But beacuse she will be all stretched out then, and real sex with you will be much less enjoyable. Stick with a regular sized toy! :)

Have you and your wife even ever talked about this? If not, I would hold off on buying her a toy. It's a really personal thing and I know that I wouldn't want anyone to buy one for me.
