When I was pregnant with my 1st, in my first trimester I had severe pain from my pelvis making room for the baby to come during delivery. This is caused by the hormone called relaxin that causes muscles to relax and therefor joints to relax. When your joints relax it causes your sciatic nerve to be pinched causing lower back pain and in some bad cases pain down the back side or your leg. My case was so severe that I could not even walk up the stairs some times. I have come to notice that this happens to women with smaller pelvises. To help it you can use a heating pad or a warm bath to sooth the pain. Also ask your Doctor for special exercises that could help. In any case with pregnancy I would contact your Doctor though. What is the pain like? Is is sharp when you move a certaint way. Is it dull and aching all of the time?

I had lower back pain and I was 17 weeks pregnant. The doctor told me if might be the way I was sleeping. Also I am very short and tiny and extremely skinny. All the weight in the front is pushing on your back. I wouldn't think you would be feeling any discomfort in your back quite yet though. If you feel you have then ask a doctor. They explained everything to me.

You probably ate something that doesn't agree with you. Usually pain associated with the upper stomach is not pregnancy related as the uterus is still tucked in your pelvis and cramping in the lower stomach area can be normal as well. Lot's of women experience period type cramps early in pregnancy.

At 5 weeks the baby is still microscopic it cant cause any back pains. It's probably just achy from holding your posture incorrectly. Try to rest a bit.
