Im looking for ideas for stuff to do for christmas with a 12 and 14 year old. We have a tradition of making gingerbread houses and cookies, driving around seeing lights and karoke to Christmas music. But Im looking for something to do with them this weekend (no shopping please!) that may be educational or creative. Thanks all

Play cards...it might not be educational but at least it takes up time.

Try this site. I am going to do some of this with my daughter.

A lot of these can be made for Christmas presents. Have fun and Merry Christmas.
P.S. Some of the craft ideas want you to join a club or something, but most of the crafts are on there for free, You will just have to look around. I only found a few that wanted you to join up for a dollar a month. There are a LOT of great ideas on here. The best part is most of this stuff you will probably have at home anyway. This is one of my favorite sites,,,,

We go ice skating. It helps to take their friends. Kids are usually happy with whatever you do as long as they have a friend along. You could make them do a book report on the origin of Christmas! Just kidding! We always have Christmas movie night. But as far as the educational and creative, making cookies is as far as we get!!!

Kids that age tend to think most things we think of are boring.
I usually take them tobogganing, skating or an indoor water park.
Everyone loves the water park. You can get a room for four with four water park pass for a regular price of $199.00. A bit expensive. or you can get an all day pass for $25.00 The two that I go to usually have other activities for the kids, but trust me, they wouldn't want to leave the heated water for anything but eating.

Call the local museums to see if they have a Christmas display.

Go caroling in your neighborhood. Make ornaments for your tree. Dough ornaments are easy and fun to make.

Donate time at the local soup kitchen or collect canned goods in you neighborhood and deliver them to the food pantry.

Try volunteering with them for a few hours at a local charity or food bank packing boxes and bags. They are at the age where they will be very helpful and understand why they are doing this.
Go to volunteermatch.com to find opportunities where you live.

We visit the zoo to see Zoo Lights, and occasionally visit the LDS temple to see the lights there.
