This is the question one of my collegue asked me. Actually I never imagine about this question. For what "i" stands for? Please help me.

The "i" in "Oracle 8i" stands for "Internet" and they wanted to drive home the fact that the database is Internet-enabled.

g in 10g stands for grid

I know it is an advanced version of Oracle 8 for Internet-based applications.
The "i" apparently stands for "internet" because Oracle 8i contains many features that make it desirable to use within a large scale internet application

For Oracle version 8, there were many minor releases. 8i was a major release that had a lot of support for Internet and provided major bug fixes. Oracle named it as 8i for two reasons: first, to prompt existing customers to upgrade to 8i. Second, for marketing purpose, it let potential customers to know that Oracle would work well with Internet application.

LOL @ anyone's photos. :-) i've got no longer unquestionably viewed Indi make a "propose" face earlier, i've got by no skill even viewed her snarl or something! I heavily only regarded by all of my photos and could no longer discover one.. communicate approximately fail haha.

I know that for some other program, the i was in the name to show that it had internet support (like you could program for the net). I don't know if this is the case though.
