They produce silk that is being developed by US millitary funding for armor plating and bullet proof clothing.

They produce venom that is being purified and modified by mediacal agencies and drug companies to prevent unwanted blood clotting during long hospital operations.

They are being studied by engineers for their walking patterns and leg structure to design robots that can climb over rough surfaces and vertical walls on other planets like mars.

They are being studied for their digestive enzymes (food desolving substances) that can break down the outer covering of insects, and allow the development of pest control sprays that only specifically target insects and other similar creatures, and not harm plants and birds or larger animals.

Oh, they feed the birds too, which sing for us, and wake us up in the morning...

Erm, and They stop the world being over-run with too many flies.

ask nicely, so the geeky zoologists will answer you!!lol
but i do maths myself, so i gues i have no right to laugh...

anyways, i think, they are do alot for us! they dont only eat bugs and scare people, they also make good pets! and they are the most creative creature of all.(except some human)

and most importantly, materials that they use to make spiderweb and silks are really strong material, about two months ago, i watched this program on tv and it says they can make bullet proof vest out of it and it is better than the old heavy metal one.

to reporduce the silk quicker, they inject spider DNA into a sheep so the sheep can produce silk in their milk! Amazing, isnt it!?

Spiders eat mosquito's and other unwanted bugs. They keep the very delicate eco system in check, by keeping the population of these bugs at the right numbers. Without spiders we could be over run by mosquitos and other bugs.
To much of anything can't be good.

Spiders are extremely efficient hunters of all sorts of insects. They acta as natural biological controls for many insects, both all the time and even help us with agricultural pests as well.
Spiders ahve their roles ecologically, by feeding on other animals and in turn being food for many as well.

They have very complex roles on the individual scale as well, but the length of the page would scare you to the point you wouldnt read it anyways......

just remember that they do have many roles, mostly in the control of insect numbers and as a food source for many animals.

Why do spiders need to do anything for us? Do you think the purpose of every species is to make itself useful to human beings?
