My building is up for sale
when i signed my lease my landlord said that he would not enter my house without notifying me unless an emergency. he said that he might have to show the house and would notify us.
today was the 2nd occasion that he entered my apartment without notifying me. both times he brought 2 people with him to look at the house. the first occasion we told him not to enter our house again without notifying us.

What can I do about this?

Contact the House Authority or similar local housing agency. This is illegal. They must give 24 hours notice unless it is an emergency.

Basically, he's getting out, so he doesn't care anyway.

You could act like you don't know who came into your appt. and call the cops, saying you have a break-in if things are disturbed. Then your landlord will look like at real jack-a--.

Landlord can only come in if it's emergency. He should inform you ahead you if he bring other people in. Talk to a lawyer friend,
see what he/she says. I had that happened to me 3 years ago when I don't own a house. After I talked to my lawyer friend, and I have an appointment with her( my landlord was a older woman) and tell her it's illegal and tell her that my lawyer will be after that if she does again. Of course, She does't want go to court, it wil be more trouble for her to go to court than give me a call. I guess meanwhile it's good to find a new place since the place is on sale any way.

Do a search on the web for the "Landlord Tenant Act" for your state. Print it out and the next time he shows up with someone show him in the "printed" law where he is performing an illegal act. Do it right in front of prespective buyers and embarrass the you know what out of him. You should also report him to the police. Have a police report made out and like the first answer said, report him to the housing authority. This is totally against the law and you are within your rights to do all of the above. Let us know how it turns out. So often we help people with questions and what happens is left up to our imagination. Sure would like to know..................Good Luck

Actions of this type should be spelled out in your renter's agreement, along with when the landlord can enter and inspect for damage or other problems. I would let Dad talk to him first - this might do the trick. If not, then involve other resources.

Totally illegal. Contact the police or someone with authority.
Landlords CAN NOT enter your place with out notifying you first.

I'd drop some bows on his face.

Personally, I like to make the place look decidedly unattractive. It's amazing what a bit of imagination, some otherwise clean underwear, a little chocolate syrup, and a bit of peanut butter can do to keep interlopers out of your space.

Report him to your local police. That way you have it documented.
