Does anyone know where I can find some information on this. It is for sociology and I have to write my own opion and back it up with evidence. also I have to do the same with this questions.. are people more willing to talk about their income, why or why not....... anyone know any websites. They have to be Canadian. Thanks

I think the problem with getting Canadians to talk about social classes is that it strikes a fear in us, that maybe we truly aren't that different from Americans.
People might want to think we don't judge each other by our wealth, but we do.
Ask your self this, who are you more likely to give directions to, a guy in a $3000 suit or a street bum?
Fact is the guy in the suit has probably done more to hurt your well being than the bum, but we look up to the wealthy and the rich.
It's something we can not avoid until we do away with capitalism. (Not democracy, before the flamers start, just capitalism)

There is not such a great gap between the rich and the poor in Canada, and there are less people living in poverty. Having said that, I was forced to move away from Canada because they pension I receive is not enough to live on there. In Canada, the largest group living below the poverty line is women over 65.

Canadians are modest and humble. They are known as a very polite (and friendly) people. It is impolite to compare social status and discuss wealth. Canadians value people for who they are not what they have :o)

Look at the fact that Canada has socialized medicine. The differance in class in Canada is not quite as defined as in the states.
