She just decided that she was not going to come. Ok she may be more successful or have a higher economic status, but how do you justify this when you are in the funeral business?

you should never judge people in a time of grief. people greive and react to death in MANY different ways, and sometimes the mourning does not set in for a long time. regardless of her reaction, just understand that death is hard for everyone, and people should be allowed to deal with it in their own way.

That's a tough one and there's more to it than just success and/or finances. As far as being in the funeral business, you should be there to console the loved ones. Not to justify the actions of members, especially if your knowledge of their histories is limited to the time you're doing your "business."

Life is tough and we ALL have done things that we grow to regret or what others don't understand. All you can do is ask her to attend. As long as the invitation was extended, then you did your job.

The bottom line is that sister is gonna have to live with herself.

I sure can't justify it.

I've been faced with how can a brother not come to his sister's funeral (my grandmother) and how can a son not come to his mother's funeral (my mother in law).

The only thing I can come up with (maybe...giving the benefit of the doubt) is that she was too upset.

Maybe she just can't deal with it emotionally. Some people can't stand up in front of other people and listen to how sorry everyone else is. She could be at a different time in the mourning process.

Sounds like she had some type of issue or problem with him. If it wasn't an economic issue, then she should have been there. But only she could tell you why.

everyone has their own way of dealing with life. We are not here to judge, no one but her has walked in her shoes, only she knows and she probably might not understand all of her feelings. Everyone has issues, I try not to judge I do not like being judged either, so I'll just pray for us .

My guess is that there may be issues there that all of us are unaware of. Until or unless I know what those are, it's difficult for me to pass judgment.

We all have different ways of dealing with grief.

Give her a break.

And, how about YOUR high horse?

I'm not trying to be funny or anything, but is this a joke? Because it sure reads like one. Try rephrasing it.
