Its been a while but a friend of mine who is in a more rural area complained that it just increased to 39. She says its been 37 cents until now. I thought stamps were universal all over the US?

It's been 39 cents everywhere for nearly a year now. I've heard rumors that they want to increase it to 42 cents in the near future.

The 39 cent rate went into effect Jan. 8, 2006.
It is the same in all areas of the country.

Still its pretty cheap to reach out and touch someone. Internet has alot to do with it,easier to send a posty online,so the US mail has to compete.
