I'm moving in a month and I'm not sure if I'll get the deposit back.. would you consider these problems normal wear and tear? I'm hoping to get some of my deposit back.

Lock on a window broke while opening, black scuff marks on bedroom doors, 2 tears in the carpet from moving furniture, door panels are chipping paint, light fixture in closet does not work and there are 2-3 chips on the laminate flooring.

First of all, in my experience, a landlord will try to charge you for EVERYTHING even if the average person would say it was normal wear and tear. I agree with the previous answerer who said fix everything you can.

The main reason I'm responding though, is those black scuff marks. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Sponge will take them right off. Awesome product.

watch out even for the landlord to try to charge you for cleaning carpet, etc. they can be pretty underhanded even if they seemed so nice while you were living there.

Not normal wear and tear...to get most of your deposit back you need to make sure the unit looks the same as it did when you moved in. If the scuffs weren't noted upon move in then clean them, if the carpet wasn't torn prior to move in, normally you would be charged as well as with the chips on the laminate flooring. There are some allowances based on the time period that you were renting.

hi
Was your suite in that condition when you moved in? If so you may get your deposit. Normal wear and tear would be the carpets, when you move out your landlord will do a condition of premises they also do this when you move in. Depending on if any damaging has been done will determine how much of your deposit you will get back. The landlord would have to have the carpets shampooed.
