Let me tell you this. I studies German in college for 3 years. partially i was taking it for myslef as i like langauges, partially (as you want too) to fill out some spare time with classes and maybe get an A that will raise my GPA. But here is the thing. German is not a language you would just learn and enjoy. It's much harder than people think and required a lot of work. Each professor will demand 100% in his class and this one will no ask you if you're taking it for pleasure or just to improve your GPA> You will have to learn it. If you like German this is another thing. This way you will at least enjoy it and pay less attention to how hard it is sometimes. Another fact is if you have a good ability to learn languages. Bacause it is very different from English and grammar is complicated and you will have to memorized words all the time. I you have bad memory or do not have an ability to learn languages this class will be a big burden for you and you end up droping it or have a bad grade.
So my advise, if you really want to take a langauge and dont' care wich one, take at least the easy one like Spanish. If this is just to fill in your hole maybe you should think about taking something easy. becasue this is 4 cr class - if you fail it will cost you a lot and all semester will be a waste of time becasue i will really drop your GPA big time.
Good luck with your decision. I hope this will help.

Have you taken a foreign language class before? I am assuming you will be taking German 101 or the beginners class, so it should not be too hard. German gets hard later on when you need to memorize endings for different grammatical modes. At the beginners level, you may only encounter some issues understanding which objects are masculine, which are feminine and which are neutral, and conjugating some basic verbs. It is actually a pretty interesting language, and you will find many similarities to the English language. Do the assignments, participate in class, talk to your professor whenever you need help, and you should be ok.
Good luck!

Nope, it could possibly surely be performed. My recommendation might be to bypass languages which can be comparable (do not take French and Spanish, for instance) seeing that you can get very effectively harassed. I might additionally hinder taking 2 intro guides at the same time, as it is plenty less complicated to study the fundamentals of 1 language at a time. But if you happen to talk Spanish relatively good and wish to hold studying and likewise begin Chinese, that may surely be performed, so long as you'll be able to paintings it in along with your magnificence time table.

I didn't ever take the first semester German because I tested out of it. 102 wasn't too bad though. It can't hurt to take it and get some language experience.

I've never studied it in college but I've been learning it myself and it's not too hard if you enjoy the language and genuinely want to know how to speak it.
