My daughter was born dec. 2, 2005. It is rough to decide on gifts the first year. But I started a tradition with my son so it continued with her. I got him a Hallmark ornament for the year, we visited Santa, and I had a pic done in a stocking. I got one little toy and one fancy outfit from Santa. So I did the same for her. Just cherish the time, take lots of pics, and have fun. Babies like the lights on the tree and playing with the empty boxes. I remember last year when my daughter was days old I couldn't get her to sleep so I could wrap gifts. So I layed her in her bassinet and turned on soft Christmas music, and put her next to the tree. She was so happy. Oh and I forgot, granny gets the kids a Christmas bear of the year every year. They don't play with them but they sure like to set them out. She hides them and you have to find them.

I would get a Baby's First Christmas ornament for the tree to start the Tradition of getting one for him every year. I did this with my Twin Daughters when they were born and have gotten them one each year since. I got them each their own according to what they liked that year,as in Cabbage Patch Doll,Care Bear, etc. That way we could look back and see what their interest was that particular year,it has made a conversation starter when the tree starts going up. Also you might buy him a Rattle, that way it would be something you could keep as a keepsake for his First Christmas Present from Mommy.

My son was almost 4 months old his first Christmas. I got him a few small gifts and wrapped them just to take pictures of him with them and his stocking under the Christmas tree. Of course I ended up unwrapping them myself and he had no idea what was going on, but it was fun for me. I also took pictures of him in his stocking and with bows stuck all over him...they are too cute. He is 4 now and loves to see the pictures of himself as a baby.

I like the idea of a personalized ornament. You could get one to celebrate his first Christmas and then get one every year after that to make a tradition just for him.

my baby was born the end of october and i faced this question also. I could not really afford it at the time so i got her one gift. and i opened it and i got it on camera. It really wont be fun until they are three. Mine is two now and i cant wait until she sees the presents christmas morning. Next year she will remember and get excited.

If he is your only child its up to you. But if he has siblings, they will wonder why you/ or santa didnt get him anything.
Instead of buying him something, just put some money into an account for college for him. Start saving now, you wont regret it.

You could start a scrapbook for him. Get a Santa outfit, take a picture of him and that could be your start for his first Christmas then you can go from there. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
