mostly, yes, riches and power normally are quite close, by one causing the other, the bourgoisie own a particularly large amount of power. but in communist countries, communism was created to make this untrue, such as in China, Russia, and Cuba, but the rich running the world is not necessarly a bad thing, if they abuse their power, the poor normally give them whats coming to them :p. (french revolution: louis XVI and marie antoinette) and other revolutions such as the english civil war outcome, the bolsheviks, and the following cultural revolution under chairman mao, which went way too far.

Generally speaking, the rich do run the world, but the majority can force change. The majority has to get out on the street and protest and that brings on change.

Remember, Martin Luther King Jr was not rich, but he had a majority of the people behind him and change has slowly followed. The same thing happened in South Africa and Nelson Mandella became the President.

On a daily basis the rich control all of the decisions, but when the majority pushes things can change.

Take care,
Troy

of course they are...The rich control the world in many ways.

One way the rich control the world is through owning various different media business. Top corporations in the world (like Microsoft, Wal-Mart, Ford, GE, Disney, Coca Cola etc) have stock holdings over television/radio networks, magazines and newspapers, and also hold various other different stocks thus influencing culture, social views, and the information that you recieve.

pefect example: Hearst Corporation ALONE owns SEVERAL magazines and newspapers like Cosmo, Esquire, O (oprah's mag), Marie Claire, Popular Mechanics, Seventeen, Redbook, the San Francisco Chronicle, Albany Times, Midland daily news, just to name a few.

Hearst Corp also owns networks like A&E, ESPN, and Lifetime

In the U.S. the rich influence political figures by giving them funds to their campaigns, this keeps the gov't from controling the "free market" and letting huge corporations do whatever they want. Also, MOST of the Political figures in the U.S. net worth are worth over 100 million.

Most definitely. The rich sponsor, nominate, finance, manipulate for and get appointed political parties and those who are in positions of government and authority. In the end they dictate which contracts they get, who is appointed to help in government.

You need money to prosecute a successful electioneering campaign and money in such sums is only held directly or in trust by the rich and their cronies.
