What inspires people to sponsor children?

Religion? A good day? A bad day?
Personal inspiration from a friend or family member?
Are you a sponsor? If so, where is your kid from?

Yes, making sure a homeless man doesn't have to take a minimum-wage job is a much better cause than sending basic funding to a 3rd world child. What a fool I am!

I don't sponsor as I do not believe that the money is sent to the right places and with the right intentions. I give my money to my church and allow them to allocate it as needed to world relief.

I don't need a "kid" in another country to make me feel like I am doing something.

Also I volunteer during the year for the homeless and underpriveldged here in our country. It is very rewarding to see who I can help right here.
