One of the most common is simple egg whites. Just brush it on put it together and let it dry. Proteins are notoriously sticky. Its why eggs and cheese stick to dishes. Egg whites are a great source of protein and have been used for centuries as glue.

How about some sort of sugary fruit rollup type tape thing. That stuff is quite sticky. And then bubble gum is the ol' stand by. ESPECIALLY if what you are trying to stick together is bare feet and my living room carpet.
Royal icing is pretty strong too by the way.

Flour and water are a standard glue, but not tasty for items that will be eaten (used for kids art projects when they are young and may get it in their mouth).
Frosting is the 'glue' used for gingerbread houses & such.

dried milk work very well....turns into a paste when dampened then sets like glue
