I am sure that very few girls dream of being a prostitute when they grow up, and I rather suspect it is the result of circumstances mostly beyond there control and desperation.
I do not condemn them and I feel very sad that they are preyed on not just by sick murderers but also beaten and abused by pimps and punters.
Not all girls would make the grade for an escort agency.
Of course they are vulnerable, but they deserve respect and if they want it, help to change career.

The sex workers working the streets often have few choices as many have serious addictions to crack or heroin - expensive habits that require regular feeding. Short term tricks paying enough to cover the next hit is what motivates many (but certainly not all). Others are driven by sheer necessity of having perhaps fallen through the options available within the system - children, rent to be paid and so on and make the choice against their better judgement but out of necessity. For many they are independent and do not answer to pimps. Pimps may make a nominal level of "sense of security" but really do not offer much apart from ripping the girls off...as for their option to join an escort service - for many it just is frankly not een a viable thought or dream. Escort agencies charge a larger sum of money and would expect the girls to be well prsented, drug / disease free. The escort girls often choose to do it for a short term financial gain - given that the fees are considerably larger it can attract people to do it for a short term willingly paying the agency percentage as this will provide a security (of sorts) as the clients are traceable and not anonymous (as is the case with sex workers on the street). Unfotunaltely your presumption is wrong - the street girls rarely have a choice but they are driven by necessity and for that they will take risks. Sad but true.

I wish we could all get over the fact that these unfortunate ladies are 'prostitutes' and just mourn the loss of five women on the streets of the UK. It's almost as though referring to them as prostitutes, or 'working girls' implies they're not as important as other people.
I guess they don't join escort agencies because they don't make the grade, seemingly 95% of them work to support drug habits, and I don't know a whole lot about escort agencies but I'm assuming some of the clients who use them would prefer not to have a drug fuelled lady on his arm. And I imagine these girls have ended up where they are because they feel that's all they can do. I don't suppose for one moment any of them dreamed of this lifestyle or woke up one day and said, I think I'll resort to selling my body rather than have a nice wellpaid job and a husband, a home and a family.
It breaks my heart seeing those photos on the news every ten minutes, five lost looking women who probably always had a rough deal of cards from birth and were just trying to scrape by the best they knew how

They are not call girls. They are prostitutes. Any prostitute will tell you that it is a very dangerous lifestyle and this latest spate of murders seems to be by someone who has a definite hate for prostitutes. Escort agencies provide escorts, and not prostitutes. The reasons why women take these risks are numerous. Money, drugs, food and clothing for their kids. Whatever the reason they don't deserve to be murdered. We may not like the idea but prostitutes play a major role in the sex industry. In places where it is legal and controlled the number of sex crimes has been greatly reduced. It should be legalised and then that way at least it could be made safer for those that choose this type of career.

Not everyone has the luxury of being attract rive enough to work as an escort - the standards are exceptionally high. Also there is not an escort agency in every area, it is a lot easier to work from your local area than travel 30 miles to work each day (or night).
Also escorts have to work particular hours agreed with the agency and clients while "self employed" ladies can work whenever they want.
Finally an escort sees one client per night, while an independent lady can service many. Also the escort pays tax on her earnings while illegal work is not taxed.

Street girls are in the lower sector of prostitution. Many if not all have drug habits. They could not work as Escorts as they have to be able to keep appointments and have to be a little more reliable in a business sense. Street girls do have so called pimps but these are usually boyfriends who's habit she is also feeding and in some cases is the one who has pushed their girlfriend into prostitution so he doesn't have to steel for their fix.
My cousin's girlfriend was one of the street girls who got murdered in Glasgow. They too had a very large drug habit. He would rob to feed their habits, but he ended up in jail and she had no way of funding her habit except from going on the street. She ended up naked in the Clyde. These girls have no other way to earn the amount of money they (and the pimps) need to feed there drug habit. That's why they are still taking the risk. Sad but true.

The simple truth is that the majority, if not all, are feeding an addiction. Working as an escort, or in a "brother" means standards and commitment, which these girls are unable to maintain. Working the streets is a quick source of money, once she has had a client, she can go straight to her dealer etc when she has enough money and not have to wait till the end of a "shift"

I read earlier that agencies won't take working girls who are used to walking the street. This is because they are more likely to have a drug addiction, they are unreliable and leave the agency with a slot to fill, therefore they end up losing money. I'm sorry but these girls are on the street to fund drug habits and pay pimps. They have no choice but to brave it. It's not like they sit at home and say "well I won't go out working tonight, I'll go cold turkey and be safe. I'll phone my pimp and tell him I'm not working and he'll say OK you stay at home where you are safe".
I'm sorry but it doesn't work like that. The poor girls are in a no win situation. Work to pay for the drugs and pimp and risk your life or stay at home and have no drugs and your pimp banging at your door.
So yes they do put themselves at risk but to them they do it for a valid reason. Their judgement does not emulate ours as they are addicts!

In business it's called Risk vs. Reward. It's too bad that the risk are those that are described. This is also why there are Pimps. Pimps aren't great, but there job is to protect the girls. Because that's how they make their money. I would think Escort business might be better only if someone is tracking everything. Pimpin ain't easy.

What you need to remember is these girls dont do what they do for fun??
Its more a case of funding drug addictions or being pimped.
In which case escort agencies wouldn't employ them!
Didnt one of the murdered girls work in a "massage parlour" until they found out she was a drug addict???
