In many cases, it's not the car at all, it's the driving habits of the owner of the car.

I'm not saying that to be mean, but do you consciously drive to save fuel, or do you just enjoy driving your semi-thirsty GT?

Are you using a fuel injector cleaner on a regular basis? Do you drive the speed limit on the freeway? There are many things you can do to increase your gas mileage. But the operative word in the phrase, 'your gas mileage' is you.

First thing to do is to stop filling up. Only fill your tank half way each time you fill up. Carrying less weight around will increase your gas mileage.

Move to synthetic motor oil. Less friction will increase your mileage slightly. visit Amsoil.com for an extended drain synthetic and filter for your vehicle.

Take your time accelerating and slowing down. Reducing your maximum speed on the freeway by 5 mph can save you 10% on highway gas mileage.

Change over to a free flowing air filter like K&N. Even a dirty K&N will flow better than a brand new paper filter.

Hope this info helps. BTW, even after you spend all this money trying to save gas, you'll probably never break even if you do get better gas mileage. Try some of the things that are free and modify your driving habits.

I have a 2001 and get an average 28MPG. Lots of highway though. They were only rated 17City 27 highway so you are inline with that. I have 65M on mine
