Im considering upgrading my video card and can either add another SLI 6800 GT card to my system or upgrade to a 7950 GT card and dump my old 6800 GT card. I have an AMD 4000+ processor and am capable of SLI. Finding a 6800 GT PCIE card is hard but a vendor will sell me one but there are no direct comparisons between the old 6800 GT card in SLI to a 7950 GT card and I really want an answer that compares them exactly on the same test system

I used to own two 6800Ultras but now I have a single 7950GT. 3DMarks 06's result for the two Ultras is slightly higher than a 7950GT but I found out that most games run smoother on a single 7950GT than the two 6800Ultras. Most games are more optimized for a single card than dual cards.

There is no way the 2 6800's will be able to compete with the 7950. Just get that one. It is newer with newer technology therefore more bells and whistles while playing games. Make sure your power supply will be able to support either option.

Well I haven't seen any benchmarks comparing those two, but I can tell you that a 7950GT will beat two 7800's, so I think it is a safe assumption to say it would beat two 6800s.
