THAT'S EASY.....
So many people are offended by ignorance because they are JEALOUS of it. They wish that they had that state of ignorance, so they were unaware of all the things that makes their lives miserable. When they encounter someone who is living in ignorance of the things they have known for so long, they will usually go out of their way to point out the things the person doesn't know. And if that doesn't work, then they merely hate the person and refuse to talk to them in most cases...
