First of all, there are prepaid credit cards you can buy at your local CVS. They are called green dot, you can put as little as 20.00 on it and use in at local resturants and stores, or you can use it online to run your search.

Depending on the circumstances, you should:
1. File a missing persons
2. Get the CC and run a check in the database (If the person is using a social securtiy number in their name, the database will come up with their location.
3. Hire a PI to investigate
4. Try using the yahoo directory (white pages)
5. Message boards are a good place to announce a missing person.
6. Pray!
Good luck finding them!

Depends on how much info you have on the missing person. There are professionals who do searches who are trying to be licensed. Most will do a search for free and only charge whatever expenses they incur. In turn, you write them a letter about the job they did.
