We are going to court in January. Is it over then or 6 months from then?

If there is no division of assets to fight over and you have both agreed to divorce it should be taken care of 30 days after your divorce is granted. That is the way it is done here.
You get a decree nisi the effective the divorce being granted in court and the decree absolute is given 30 days after.(Canada)

Depends on the state. I know where I am from you have to go to a judge and he will grant you legal separated for a year. Then after that, your your divorce will be over after you come back in front the judge. So, if you already did ya year, its over after the paperwork is sign.
