Saudi should have been our biggest enemy all along. Where do you think the hijackers on 9/11 came from? And with who's money they were sponsored by? Bin Laden himself is of royal Saudi decent. Now why haven't they become enemy #1?

The Carlisle group, Sr Bush is the charter member of. James Baker served as defense attorney for the Saudi government when sued for damages by the victims of 9/11. It's about high time we stopped them deciding what we do with our military, close all the bases there and put pressure on the REAL source of terror in the middle east.

Not in my view. A good enough reason is the establishment of a stable democratic government. Unfortunately, the manner in which we are doing this building will just result in yet another American built government overseas that hates us.

"Destroying Islamic totalitarianism requires a punishing military onslaught to end its primary state representative and demoralize its supporters. We need to deploy all necessary force to destroy Iran's ability to fight, while minimizing our own casualties. We need a campaign that ruthlessly inflicts the pain of war so intensely that the jihadists renounce their cause as hopeless and fear to take up arms against us. This is how America and its Allies defeated both Nazi Germany and Imperialist Japan."

We cannot be referee to these people. They will never fall in line with western ideas as to how to settle differences so the best method, being as we can't just turn away and hope they won't bother us is to force a submission by military means.

The Sunni and Shiite tribes have been fighting each other for decades, I don't expect it to stop anytime soon unless it is forced to a halt. Iran and the UAE are behind the conflict. Start with the root of the problem rather than addressing the symptoms.

It has been rumoured that Saudis secretly fund the Iraqi Sunni insurgents. I imagine that the Saudis are somwhat of a monopoly in the oil market. They don't want any competition from Iraq.

Don't know if I believe that, but anything is possible. Whether or not US troops should leave should be determined by the political environment surrounding Iraq. All Iraq needs is regional support. Bush is not talking to Syria and Iran.

Regional support is important since this would determine Iraq's future. Sometimes, one has to work with others to achieve regional objectives; regardless of political affiliations.

No why not leave it for Saudi Arabia and Iran to fight over.
They are never going to be happy with a plan of dividing the country up and they are especially not going to be happy with the US telling them where to live so Bush might as well face the fact that he screwed up. Let it go down in history. Bring our boys home and secure our borders.

this isnt a surprise. the sunnis believe in shariah law and the caliph which Saudi Arabia is one of the few countries that practices these teachings as their main teachings.

If we're going to kick azzes in the Middle East....the Sow-uuu-Deeez should have been the first ones. Just as soon as we leave, "someone" else is going to move-in and take control, all in the name of their religion aka OIL.

Oh, and we will ALWAYS have little bases in Iraq just like we do in Kuwait, Quatar, Korea, etc.

In and of itself it is not a good reason to stay. We do not need to start allowing Saudi Arabia, or anyone else, to dictate our foreign policy.

On the other hand, this business of training and arming Iraqis is a good reason to stay. I don't like the idea of training and arming anyone in that mess.

I think we should finish the job ourselves, rather than arm anyone.
