The popping you are hearing is not air bubbles. You have no free air any where that does not have a direct opening to the outside of your body. your joints are coated with a slippery substance called synovoal fluid. This fluid is responsible for the sound you hear. When you put force down on your knuckle, the synovial fluid if rapidly and with force shoved to another side.

The cartilage and connective tissues pop when you crack your knuckles. It is natural to happen, but you shouldnt do this on purpose. Your knuckles will get misshapened and knobby/

in the joints a air pocket can exist to crack them is to shift the knuckles or joints suddenly these air pockets can be in old bone breaks too my toe joints expand in lower air pressure and tell me from the pain that the rain or snow is coming soon

air bubbles between your joints. Unlike most theroys it won't give you artheritis but when you get older your knuckles will start looking very bony
