Nope, sorry. No way to stop it. It's a part of being on the internet.

You can create a new account but you need to tell folks and eventually it'll get spam.

The only way to not get spam in an e-mail account is to only send the address of a fresh account to your friends and family and use this infected account for any company sites or social site.

Edit: For ghod's sake don't click on the Remove Me links on e-mails and don't bounce e-mails back to the senders.

Remove Me just confirms it's a valid e-mail and your spam will increase because they sell valid addresses for big bucks.

Bounces is a dumb idea since spammer use false addresses and now you're spamming some poor guy and could get a nasty e-mail from your ISP.

If you run a mail server, you can refuse to accept incoming e-mail but don't bounce it.

Welcome to the club! In the last 18 hours, I received 25 spam emails at my work email address, and another 9 or so at my public yahoo address. I have not yet checked the ones at my private email address at home.

If your email address was published anywhere on the internet at some point, you will begin to get spam. It is inevitable. Spammers scan the internet and pick up any email addresses they can find in web pages, chat groups, and newsgroups. That list is then used in their mass mailers to send spam to you.

Spammers are generally paid a fee to send emails to the mass market...so many cents per email.

The reason spam is still being sent around is because if they send out 100,000 emails and even 1% of people respond or decide to purchase the product advertised, that is still 1000 responses.

The best way to help fight spam is to never buy or respond to anything from a spam email.

You can also send an email or regular letter to the company whose product is advertised and complain that you do not condone or wish to purchase any product that is received as spam email.

Although in general it is not their fault that someone spams their product, getting the retailer or product manufacturer involved may cause them to investigate on their end and change their marketing or advertising firm, who in turn was using mass marketers that DO make use of spammers.

You can also try getting a spam filter for your email account. Spambayes has helped to reduce the junk emails that I used to get (it caught 22 of the 25 spam emails at work today) and there are others that help too.

Sometimes the spammers guess address, so your e-mail address doesn't have to be listed somewhere on the internet.

Anyway, you could try registering at http://www.slimail.com. They give you a new address. You can still use your yahoo address. It routes your e-mails to this inbox and does all sorts of filtering. They elaborate on that on the website. I'm not a registered user. I just heard about the service and it could fit your needs.

In case you're not interested or it doesn't work, you could try http://us.f542.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Options?YY=30982&y5beta=yes (I hope the link works for you) where you can customize Yahoo!'s anti-spam tool and maybe make it better for your needs.

Good luck fighting spam.

Your bestbet is to start by changing your email address.
Once it starts, it is almost impossible to stop. What ever you do, do not open it and DO NOT HIT the REMOVE me from your mailing list. This only states that you opened it and read through it. That is all that tey want you to do.

Do not use your new email addy in anything but to your freinds. Use the one full of spam already for things like hotmail, and signing p for free stuff. Good luck

The reason why so much bulk mail gets into your box is because it hasnt been recognized as such yet by the server.
You do your part by checking and reporting all the spam you recieve. and however many odd people reporting teh same spamming recieved to the server will award that category to otehr inboxes that receive the same copy.
when you declare certain emails spam didnt you notice
'
Thanks! Every message you report helps SpamGuard perform better.'

You can't stop spam. It only takes one missposting of your address somewhere and it spreads. Asking a company to stop just verifies that you exist and makes the address more valuable. You need one address that is used for mail that you do not care about and another for private mail. I use my Yahoo address for any online sites that request an address. My private address only goes to reliable companies and friends.

Well short of changing your email address which is the easiest solution, get a copy of Mail Washer Pro, I've been using it for years. http://www.mailwasher.net/
It gives you the ability to bounce emails right back to the sender if you choose, or simply delete them off the server before they even get to your pc.

Sounds like you have entered your email address somewhere and they have sold or shared it. Then that company does the same.
