At the time of 9/11 I predicted Americas invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and also Iran. My friends laughed at me but I have been right thus far. Motivations are obvious, but the territorial significance is less so to most...

The people of the democratic west do not have the stomach for this kind of war anymore. War weariness is a huge weakness for us we live soft comfortable lives with the exception of our fighting elite the Marines, the SAS etc. But our technological advancements are not such an advantage anymore they have AK47's not spears.

These people we fight will not capitualte they are hardened by difficult lives and ready to die for the leaders and Gods. An irradication is necessary for victory, our people will rightly not support it.

As our weakness becomes apparent to the rising ambitions nations in the East and our forces are stretched and stretched the temptation to elimante us as a threat will lead where...?

Maybe, it may be a wise thing to get all the invaders to go home & let the locals figure it out. The occuping forces have made such a mess, that civil war is inevitable in both Iraq & Afghanistan. As to who is winning the war on terror, try and estimate how much the additional security at airports alone is costing?

Afghanistan was the right move, the Taliban and Bin Laden were behind 9/11 and had to go.

True, the technological gap isn't as significant in the way it used to be, but it's still huge. The difference between AK47s and cruise missles is larger than spears to rifles.

An Iran invasion is unlikely, unless they do something REALLY stupid, in which case their more immediate neighbors may deal with them harshly while we're still debating.

We don't support eradication of people because we have strong moral resolve, not because we are weak. Our soliders are not only the best equipped in the world, but the best-trained.

Sure life is difficult over there, but no moreso than many parts of Africa, Bosnia, China, etc.

So that leaves Iraq, which we all know is a mess and was widely opposed by the international community from the start (unlike Afghanistan) - but 1 out of 3 isn't 3 out of 3....

The real CRUSADES these days are being waged by Islamic extremists bent on overthrowing the governments of their neighbors.

So what's your point?

No one knows where they will end. A spiteful hatred of Christendom and the West has been brewing in the Middle East for decades --some would say centuries. It's possible "these crusades" will never end. But the future isn't really predictable, and things could change in unforeseen & surprising ways, as has happened so often in history.

A thought-provoking book on this subject is Pat Buchanan's "The Death of The West." No matter what one thinks of Pat B.'s politics, the book is exceedingly informative in summarizing a UN report on long-term world demographic trends. The UN report tells how the native populations of Western countries are shrinking rapidly while the populations of 3rd-world countries --including Muslim ones --are exploding.
