Okay I'll tell you the real deal .
Pluto is still a planet !!

Planet Pluto has been labeled a dwarf planet.
It is still is a planet but in a class of its own .

There are 3 types of planets now
Gas Planets , Terestrial Planets & Dwarf Planets

1 Gas planets ( jovian ) .....

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They are giant gas planets, and rotate very fast. The Jovian giants are circled by rings made of tiny chunks of ice and bits of rock. Saturn has the brightest rings. Each of these huge planets has many moons; some of which are larger then the planet Mercury

2 .. Terrestrial ..

Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars - are small and rocky. Mercury is the closest to the Sun and is also the smallest of the inner-planets. It has no real atmosphere. Venus is about the same size as the Earth and has a very thick atmosphere, making the temperature at the surface over 800 degrees. Mars is rocky and smaller then the Earth. Its atmosphere is very thin

3 .Dwarf .. Pluto they said it's not a planet but it still is !

"Planet" has never had a solid definition. Some of the larger asteroids used to be classified as planets, but now they're not. The recent controversy arose because powerful telescopes have found dozens of objects that are almost exactly the same as pluto, and they've only searched a small portion of the sky so there are probably thousands of pluto-like objects out there. Nobody wants there to be thousands of planets in the solar system, so the simplest thing to do was to remove pluto.

The International Astronomical Union decided that Pluto was no longer a planet. The reason is that while Pluto is round, orbits the sun, and has three moons, it has not cleared (via gravity) its own orbit of debris. Instead, they decided to classify it as a "dwarf planet".

See the details below.

RESOLUTION 5A
The IAU therefore resolves that "planets" and other bodies in our Solar System, except satellites, be defined into three distinct categories in the following way:

(1) A "planet" [footnote 1] is a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, (b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, and (c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit.

(2) A "dwarf planet" is a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, (b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape [footnote 2] , (c) has not cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit, and (d) is not a satellite.

(3) All other objects [footnote 3] except satellites orbiting the Sun shall be referred to collectively as "Small Solar-System Bodies".

Footnote 1: The eight "planets" are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Footnote 2: An IAU process will be established to assign borderline objects into either dwarf planet and other categories.

Footnote 3: These currently include most of the Solar System asteroids, most Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs), comets, and other small bodies.

RESOLUTION 6A
The IAU further resolves:

Pluto is a "dwarf planet" by the above definition and is recognized as the prototype of a new category of trans-Neptunian objects.

Pluto is a big ball of gas and it just isnt conditered a planet because of that. I saw in a magazine and pluto was sitting at a table all alone and all the other planets were at a big table and jupiter was like "Sorry, you cant sit at the planet's table anymore!"

all i know about pluto not being a planet is that
pluto is just an asteroid that is caught in the suns gravitational pull. gabe is mellow because hes cool O:

Pluto is so small it is now classified as a dwarf planet

because it's too small and it has different orbit than the other planets in our Solar System! Scientist think that it may be a meteorite.

Cos it's smaller than some asteroids and so was downgraded
