We had a paper in sociology, in that I got 44(aggregate) marks. My classmate got 45. (Both of us were competing for class first) After two days when I verified I found that she was mistakenly given few marks. So I called up her and said that she was given as such. But she irritated me by telling that she doesn’t know anything as an innocent girl. So I ringed up my professor to enquire how he calculated the marks and told him that the calculation was different for me and her. He inquired into it and agreed with me and he reduced her marks. Thus starts the problem. After this my classmate won’t speak with me. She irritates me as if I have done a mistake. Tell me did I do any mistake? I want to keep a full stop for this problem. Give me a solution. Please help me.

Send her flowers that say something like "Good luck next time" or "Second best is not all that bad". With a big happy face on the card.

Turn it into something kind of funny, but that gets your message across.

Hi, Chandru. Being a student of Sociology, you couldn't adhere to certain basic social principles. You both seem to be of the same age. You are studying in the same class and both are competing for the top place. Really it is a healthy competition. When you verified her answer paper and found that she was awarded more for the same answer and thus overcalculated. This finding of yours certainly irritated and hurt her ego. If I were to be in the place of your professor, I would have given you additional marks and making your marks equal to the total of hers. I would make the competition between you and her still more intense. Before going to the professor in this regard, you should have convimced her how bad you felt for the under calculation of your answer paper. Once again you beg her pardon and try to pacify her with your reasonable talk. In spite of this, she didn't respond positively, do not bother. Leave the matter and time would heal up this wound. Good luck!

you treated her like an enemy and therefore got one. If you can't speak to hear write her letters. Keep them clean no insults to her. Just say hello and I miss talking to you and when you are ready to talk I will be glad to hear from you. Keep it on the upbeat. if you are percetant she will come around to it. Next do not take any communcations from the teacher serouisly anymore. It takes three to fight not two. He is activly trying to make you two fight. Don't trust what he says about her Actually right now scan through all the things he said about her and you will find most of the stuff you do not like about her came from him. Also you called her up before you told the teacher and she told you what she thought about it. You only cared about your grade and what you thought was right. You basically ignored her and what she told you before you went to the teacher. She got highest marks and did she tell her famely and friends? How does she feel after winning to find out she lost? You asked did you make a mistake well if you don't care about her no you did not. But if you have any feeling of human decentcy you made a big one.

hope this helps

what u did seems like it was morally correct but its possible that it wasnt bc i mean u should wry for urself...now u wot believe me but in my case i dont take anything less or more than what i deserve..like if i get a higher grade then i should have in many instances i have gone to my teacher to fix it and they look at me all shocked like ur telling me to lower ur grade are u tring to suck up?
noo i have a biting consceince that follows me and therefore i wry bout myself...ultimately each person gets what they deserve...
maybe tell her that u apologize u had to be the one to tell the prfessor but she should have not taken what she didnt deserve. it was morally wrong for her to do that...
but the way she seems u should ignore her back and next time dont bother lowering someone else's marks because it doesnt increase urs

I think she has a right to be jealous. Since you say it was a competition.
And you, i think you behaved childish. You should'nt make her your standard as to try to bring her down. My advice is apologise, and re-define your standards. She is not worth the competition. Set your own standards and work towards it. Its not about coming first, its about being the first. think about it. (you should be in a class of your own, beyond competition)
