I had this happen twice. I MC at 10 weeks and one at 6 weeks my levels did not drop until I have my 1st real period. After a MC you will bleed for a little bit and then stop. After you stop when you start bleeding again is when you have started your 1st cycle after the MC. This can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks depends how high your levels were. On my 1st one it took about 5 weeks and on my 2nd one it took only a week. I really hope this helped you out.

Well it depends.

The baby can die and the pregnancy continue for quite some time(weeks, even a month or two). As long as the placenta is working the hormones are still there.

I believe once the placenta goes the hormones disappear in 48 hours. Hormones disappear quickly in general.

You'd need blood work. The hormone levels would stop rising, and slowly start falling after a miscarriage. THe blood work would detect that.

I tested positive on the 3rd (urine). Ended up bleeding on the 6th. Dr. said I miscarried. I have to go tomorrow for Quantitative hCG (blood) to be sure all has left my system.
