It's far too much. But there's two parts to this: a) they're trying to fix this issue for good by tying their salary to the salary of federal MP's, making theirs 75 per cent of an MP's salary, regardless of what that number is; this will likely lead to reasonable increases in the future and prevent the question from ever arising again.; b) although future increases may be reasonable, MP's get paid quite well, so there's a one-time jump of 25 per cent! this is completely out of touch with reality. After all, in five years, a government could introduce a new bill to make MPP salaries 85 percent of that of Supreme Court Justices ... or whatever.

They should give themselves a three per cent raise now, and then tie any future raises to the raise of MP's, so if an MP gets a 2 per cent raise, they will, without regard to the actual pay of an MP.

I think they better time it for shortly after they get elected to power because if they wait until their ride is almost over, people might actually remember it well enough not to re-elect them!!

THAT SOUNDS LIKE NYC THE CITY COUNCIL GAVE THEMSELVES A 25% RAISE WHILE 8000 CITY WORKERS ARE EARNING SUCH A LOW WAGE THAT THEY HAVE RESORTED TO COLLECTING WELFARE.
