United and BA are the only two that fly direct. They will also be the cheapest and most comfortable in economy class.
If saving money is most important, consider going via Vancouver with Air Transat or Zoom
www.airtransat.ca or www.flyzoom.ca
prices for those charter airlines actually get cheaper as the date gets closer. But beware, they are not so comfortable and you'll have a headache with the check-in and baggage transfers.
Personally, I'd go for British Airways (BA; www.ba.com). The new CEO of BA is reknowned for turning good airlines into cheap rides. It'll be a good flight for a decent price.

It would be handy to know what class you will be travelling in, and days too, but I'm sure you wouldn't want your itinery spashed over the internet. I think for the best selection of flights you would be changing at one of the NY airports. I've flown both Delta and United to and from the States and they are good. Personal recommendation would be Virgin.

Try online velocity.com. July and August are big travel months so you might not get a discount unless booking last minute.

Also try checking www.sidestep.com It searches all of the major carriers for the best prices depending on your preferences. Definitely a great resource.
