depends on a person's taste:

if you like WW2 games and are interested in history, i recommend the medal of honor series or call of duty. I've played them both and they are great games, call of duty has some variety in putting you in the boots of troops from different nations.

If you're going for modern warfare the Delta Force series comes to mind as well as Black and some of the 007 games.
