I've been kicked out of my house several times now, and I'm done. I want out for good and two of my friends and I plan on getting a townhome together. I'm 19 and part-time college, part-time job. I'm in the process of applying for a second job and money will be tight for me. I have two cats and a snake to take care of. I'm still making car payments and have a car still to sell. What do I do now. I can't get the townhome until I've paid off my car, but I'll have to be house hopping or staying with my girlfriend (much to her father's dislike) until we can get the townhome. Any advice for a poor college student with no home?

I'm not making any mistakes as far as getting kicked out. My family is just going downhill slowly but surely. My grandmother (who I lived with) is trying to use the guilt card and make everyone feel like they've wronged her. She basically considers me trash even though I'm attempting to work and go to school full time plus have a life. So please, don't give me "Well you should stop getting kicked out" or "Your confused" No, I'm a 19 year old who's now out on her own due to a conservative family that has no concern except for its pride. My grandmother told me to stay away from the house especially around x-mas because she's afraid my buzzed head and baggy clothes will embaress her.

First off, I would sell your other car. The money for that could go to a down deposit. Then, I would consult with someone at the college that you attend in their career services department. Sometimes they can help you find a job where you are making money, but you are earning credits at the same time. You would be killing two birds with one stone. If that does not work, you may just have to buckle down, quit school and work one (possibly) 2 jobs to survive. I did that, but I regret it, because I feel like I never will go back to school. :(

Sounds like you're both having pride issues.

So, your choice is to be "right" in your own head and having life suck for you and letting other people (conservative family) be right until you really are capable of thriving on your own in the wild...

If you really want to prove your independence, you have to make some sacrifices. ie, take a couple of semesters off from college, get a full time job and plan your studies around it, or find a way to assert your individuality that doesn't anger your family...

Suck up, go back home, and play by the rules until you can afford to move out on your own. How long do you think your g/f's father is going to put up with you?
