Because you are viewed as a child in an adult ruled world.

Sorry but thats life. Wait a few years. Wait till you have children. Then you will understand.

Developmentally, abstract thinking doesn't come until a person is 12-13. The brain is still forming, the identity is still developing. Fifteen is when maturity starts, but our society isn't quite set up for allowing more responsibility yet.

I think it's not a question of having so many restrictions as much as I think it's a matter of not being ready for the responsibilities that marriage and other things bring. It's all much harder than it seems when you're 12.

Peace.

I suspect this is not a sincere question.

Anyway, 12 year olds are children and should be involved in children's activities. There will be time enough to do all the other things meant for adults, which usually open our eyes as to why we ought to enjoy our childhood as much as possible before its too late.

Being grown up is tough enough as it is with all of the responsibilities of work, family, money issues, taxes, home-ownership, relationships, health problems, etc. Why in the world would anyone want to rush into this madness we call life?

I say, let the parents worry and, relalx and enjoy it while it lasts.

because most 12 year-olds arn't mature enough. and at 12 years old you haven't experienced enough in life. But yes, back in the days 12 year-olds were married off(take Marie Antoinette for example) but she had no idea what she was doing being married at that age.

And why would a 12 year-old be at a night club for? I've been to many and that is no place for one. Too much goes on in them that 12 year olds should be seeing.

because a 12 year old is a child and can not handle the responsibility of making mature decissions. I for one do not want to be on the highway with a 12 yr old driving a car, bad enough some states let 15 yr olds have a license.

I agree with you. That IS silly. 12 year olds can learn faster than adults, yet, the adults make the decisions. In fact, they probably have more knowledge about government, and should be allowed to vote to undo this injustice.

Maybe we parents want to keep our babies close to us, just a little longer, so we make restrictions so they will not separate from us so quickly? Maybe it is for the benefit of the parents, more than the benefit of the 12 year old?

Because a 12 year old is a kid.

I hated it when I was 12 too... I really had this girl I wanted to get married to... she had the Nintendo and all...

I get the question, but the answer is simple... kids need guidance.. I know not all kids get it, but they need it. A 12 year old has no idea how to make it in the real world.

It has been proven that reasoning skills are not sharpened untill you are around 25... and fyi, at 12, what's the point of getting married... all the joys of marriage are best enjoyed when you are mature enough to accept resposibility for your actions, and when you truly know what LOVE is. And btw, I'm 15, so I'm in the same situation...

Because 12 year old dont' have the knowledge or experience to make such decisions. You can't even be tried as an adult in court under extenuating circumstances until you are 13, and it's a stetch to do that.

The fact that you ask such a question demostrates the inability to comprehend the consequense of you actions. How would a 12 yr old suppot a wife? Most night clubs would be beyond your bed time. Don't be in such a hurry to screw up your life.

Because, as is evidenced on a daily basis by my 12-year-old, they are not mature enough emotionally or understand enough about the real world to make decisions such as that for themselves. Mine can't remember to put his glasses on and he's been wearing them since he was 11 months old. And you think we should let him go to a nightclub? I think not.
