A breed is a subtype within a species. It has the same genetics of the species, but may have differing characteristics of the "basic" species.
Species are genetically different from each other, although they may sometimes be crossed as hybrids.

A breed is a subgrouping within a species. All breeds of a certain type of animal are the same species.
A comparison would be: all "breeds" (models) of "species" Ford (make)

A species is more general, but a breed is more in depth, for example a dog is a species, when a labrador is a breed. Hope this helps.

A species encompases a whole kind of animal. For example, a ball python is a breed of snake. A snake is a species. So a ball pythons species is a snake, while its breed is ball python. There are many breeds within a species.
