These people are crazy. The rays do not penetrate past the top layer of your skin. The only concern of tanning is if you heat your core temprature up past 100 degrees, thats why you avoid saunas, hot tubs etc. Tanning will cause skin cancer but not in your baby, so if you want to tan, do it in moderation and make sure you have the fan on. Sunless tan lotions have been questioned while pregnant because the lotion can soak into your body and some ingredients may be bad. Ask your doctor either way, and go with what they recommend. Mine said it was fine to tan.

NO, no it is not okay, and it never will be.
Exposing yourself to heat when pregnant is dangerous. You over heat before you sweat, and that heat is dangerous to the baby, because it can retard its development.
Theres also inconclusive studies as to whether or not the UV rays are enough to effect the baby within.
Besides all that, tanning reduces the moisture in your skin, which makes your chance of developing stretch marks that much more likely. The dryer the skin is, the less elasticity it has, and the deeper the scars are from its rapid stretching. THAT certainly wont look good.
When in doubt, opt for the side of caution. This is always a good idea when pregnant.

No, no, no! Tanning beds can heat up your insides too much. The amniotic fluid is already warmer than the rest of your body (99+ degrees) so warming it up even more could do some serious damage to the baby. If you feel the need to be tan, you can go sit in the sun but only in moderation. It is very easy to overheat yourself and/or the baby.

Let's think about this for a sec - are you serious??? You want to use a tanning bed while pregnant??? How come you didn't run that question past your doctor???
#1 - tanning beds (tanning in general) is not health - it causes skin cancer (melanoma being one of them, I know...I had it and had a tanning bed addiction, now I live in constant fear it will come back).
#2 - good way to nuke a baby there!
After reading your additional details...PLEASE tell me you were aware of the fact that tanning is dangerous in the first place!?!

It is not safe to go tanning in a tanning bed while pregnant! It is like putting an egg in boiling water.

tanning beds are never safe. I mean, your locked in a chamber of lights, and if you stay in there too long it will burn you. I find that gross. I also think that tanning beds probably give people cancer more than the sun. also, I think that people with artifical tans look orange and fake. and you can tell when they have been to the tanning salon. really. Also, I don't think it is safe for your baby. probably because your soaking your body in unatrual light. anyway, sorry to be so blunt.

No it is not safe during pregnancy....if the beds get over 98 degrees...it will raise your body heat too much....Consider asking your doctor if there are any safe fake tanning lotions that are safe...
Just keep in mind, a tan is not worth the life of your baby!!!

Tanning in the sun is 'Ok' but only if you hydrate and don't let yourself get too hot. Tanning beds are never ok when pregnant. Tanning is bad for you anyways, try sunless tanning products instead.

No it is not safe to tan when you are pregnant. Not only are the UV rays bad but it will increase your body temp and could hurt your baby. Hold off until you deliver. You can tan if you are breastfeeding though!! Good luck.

I don't suggest that you do while your preg...it gets too hot and its not good for your body temp to be that high! Now i will tell you that my sister did throughout her preg only in the fact that she didn't find out till she was almost 6 months preg!! Doctors tell you not to for the above reason! I tan all the time and when i got preg I stopped going. I am not suggesting that cuz my sister did it and had a very healthy little girl that you should do it cuz your really not suppose to and most places won't allow you to while your preg. Good Luck and Congrats on the new baby!
