Your insurance company has to provide you with a lawyer. Even though they are paying the lawyer under the rules of ethics you are the client and they have to have your best interests in mind. So the lawyer works for you. Who ever said a lawyer only gets paid if they win is a moron. Defense attorneys don't work that way. That is a contingency fee and plaintiff's attorneys are who use these.

You should visit CREDITVAULT.NET- I am sure here you can find the best option for you
RE What do I do? I am being sued!?
A guy on a motorcycle ran into me and had injuries, I turned left in front of him (did not see him) yes it was my fault. He is now demanding $60,000. My insurance company has already paid the limit and he is wanting more because the insurance did not cover all. He has Blue cross and state farm also. I have been advised if I did not settle that it could go to a jury trial and he could end up getting more!. Well if I cant pay the 60 how can he get more out of me. I do not have that kind of money! What are my options? Bankruptcy or changing my identity? The insurance company gave me a lawyer to contact, but somehow the insurance company does not seem to have my best interest. Should I get my own lawyer? Geez wonder how much that cost? What should I do? It wasnt like I meant to hit him! Whats the worst case and the best case and best and worst options?

You're barking up the wrong tree here - I'm a motorcyclist - but maybe I can help a little.
First of all - pay attention to what you're doing when you're driving. I don't think you'll have a problem doing that from now on - because you're going to remember this for the rest of your life.
Secondly, don't try to "duck" it - you're going to have to pay.
As a motorcyclist, I can tell you - if your case goes before a jury, more than likely - you're going to get off. Motorcyclists are frowned upon by juries - it's a known fact - go to the AMA website and see. If it goes to jury, simply because he was on a motorcycle and your insurance maxed out will probably get you off with half of what he's asking.
I would take the attorney the insurance company provides, and take my chances in a court room against the motorcyclis.
Was he wearing a helmet/gear? If not, the jury may look at him as "asking for it", and the case may be dismissed. That's what you can hope for.
My suggestion to you is to "man up", take your medicine, and take it to trial. You may fare better than you think.
Good luck....and PAY ATTENTION!

Go to court, with whatever lawyer, get a free one.
Just tell the judge, you didn't mean to hit him, but you don't have that kind of money.
You are willing to make small payments monthly to help him.
Then after a month or two after it's over, file for bankruptcy
You might not get out of it completely, but I think you will not have a time limit on paying him, so you can put it off the rest of your life.
Also one other thing, the minimum insurance the law requires was put into place back when that was enough.
You have to take it upon yourself to increase that, to todays standards.
It doesn't cost that much more per month to get alot of extra insurance. Check into increasing that, triple it or better.
Then delete your question, so this guy doesn't see what your options are.

First off, NO, your insurance company does NOT have your best interests in mind. To think otherwise is pure gullibility.
Second, I don't think there is anything you CAN do. YOU pulled in front of him and shattered his life. No, you didn't mean to, but you are still at fault. How would you feel if you were in his position?

Absolutely get your own lawyer! However, my sister in law was hit by a drunk driver and she sued and got nothing. She had over $200,000 in bills. I think this is just a scare tactic and if they sue you, they won't get $60,000.00 unless you have ALOT of assets.

TAHTS THE COST OF DRIVING AND NOT PAYING ATTENTION.
LOOKS LIKE YOUR SKREWED. I DO THINK HE SHOULD ONLY GET WHAT HE ENTITLED TO. IF HE GOT THAT MUCH IN THE FIRST PLACE YOU PROBABLY MESSED HIM UP PRETTY BAD.
