by someone who used regualr dish soap rather than dishwashing detergent?

been there, done that.

1) remove the dishes from the dishwasher

2) to remove the excess foam, throw handfuls of table salt in the dishwasher.

3) set your dishwasher to rinse; let it rinse for 1-2 minutes, then set your dishwasher to drain.

4) repeat steps 2-3 until the dishwasher stops foaming.

Dry your dishwasher out very good with a dry cloth, then run a cycle - do not add any detergent.

You're not supposed to use "dishsoap" in a dishwasher!
You use a product specifically made for dishwashers....
such as Cascade.

Use dishwasher detergent not dish soap! I hope you didn't kill your dishwasher!!

your real lucky it didn't leak, but to solve your problem just run it with no soap.and then do it again
