I'm interested in the continuing rejuvenation of the Boston area, and I used to work in the Downtown Crossing area. I enjoyed watching the Paramount's facade and the Opera House renovations, but I have unfortunately moved out of state and miss hearing about these. Has anyone been by lately to see how the Paramount/Arcade building & Modern Theatre renovations, etc. are going??? Thanks much! A former Bostonian in location, A lifetime Bostonian in heart.

The Opera House closed for some time for renovations and has reopened for about 2.5 years now. I went there to see the Lion King (what a bore) and it was marvelous.

I have never heard about Paramount Facade. I don't think this exist anymore.

Actually, I prefered that end of Washington St. better when it was the "Combat Zone" ;-)

Anyway here is a great resource regarding the status of all of Boston's old theatres:

I don't think there has been any progress.. . .I know once before someone had tried to renovate, but I don't think anything ever came of it. . . .
