I'm buying myself a Christmas present this year and it will be all new make-up. I don't want to spend too much, less that $200, but I will need all the essentials. Foundation, powder, blush, eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick, gloss...you name it, I need it. I recently started taking Accutane for my acne and my face is clearing up and I'd like to look pretty for once in my life and my make-up just doesn't cut it. Any ideas on what brand has a complete collection that I can go buy?? I tried Clinique last year, and hated it. But I'm thinking go to a department store, let them do the make-over and then just buy everything if I like it. I have never known anything about make-up because I just felt is was useless because my face looked so bad. Can some of you girlie girls help me??

I took accutane about 2 years ago (and clear skin ever since thank goodness). When I started using accuante and my skin got much less oily, my dermatologist suggested I use bare minerals foundation and blush and I cannot say enough about how great it makes my skin look. I recommend trying the bare minerals line at least for foundation. For mascara, eye shadow etc I just use regular products from any drug store like Maybelline or Cover Girl and I like them too.

I don't know how far along you are with the accutane, but as a former patient of accutane, I would recommend that you buy lots of chaptick and a really good moisturizer. I was on accutane for about six months, and i had the most chapped lips/cold sores that I have ever had in my entire life. Buy blistex medicated. And for me the only moisturizers that really worked were the super duper dry skin formula from clinique or from Aveda.
As far as make-up. I used to use Estee Lauder until the discontinued my line of products. Now have switched over to Bobbi Brown and I am totally happy. I love her philosophy of enhancing natural beauty and not donig too much trendy stuff.
Bobbi brown also makes these super cool pallettes of products throughout the year for things like hot colors of lip stick/gloss, blushes, travel size.

If you are taking accutane, I highly recommend trying Bare Minerals... I was in the same situation as you a few years ago, and when I started using it, my skin looked 100% better. Its good for your skin, won't dry it out, but won't make it greasy either. ITs perfect for acne and oily skin too. At least go into a bare esentuals store or a sephora or even an Ulta and try it out...They make everything you need! Their mascara and eyeshadows are great! I have yet to try their lip gloss, but plan to soon.

i like a lot of brands...i used to have the worst trouble with makeup and breaking out so i tried bare minerals. it works pretty well, cept i went through my supply pretty quickly (like in 2 or 3 months?) so i decided to try something else...i know mary kay is a very good, light brand but right now i use a brand called isa dora. they sell it at ride aid and it works really well. try their foundation and powder, and maybe their liquid eyeliner too. i use that, plus a maybelline twistable pencil eyeliner for the bottom lids and some light blush. its a great look. just remember not to spend too much money on makeup because if you end up liking the brand, you'll have to buy it again in the future to restock, and you can just hope that you have enough money for that too!! good luck! =)

Neutrogena has a great line for people who have acne prone skin. A lot of their makeup contains Salicylic acid, which is whats in acne cleansers to clear zits. Almay is also great for sensitive skin.
I have always stuck by covergirl and have never had an issue with my skin since using it.
As for things such as eyeshadows, I would go with different brands and get a mixed collection going on.

I have very sensitive skin and have had to deal with the same issues.....I do NOT recommend buying the cliniques and expensive brands like that....honestly, my face always paid the price....I was told that "you have to get used to it" and then your skin won't break out anymore....Ok, sure.
Well...I am over 30, if you would like to learn from my "FREE" advice..Here's my suggestion.
I use all Neutrogena products because they contain Salicylic Acid which helps skin problems...My face stopped breaking out. I'd suggest trying that before you go investing a ton of money in those department store brands..... If you want to know how to apply the makeup....go ahead, go to one of the counters and let them fix you up....watch them so you can see how they do it....maybe purchase a lipstick or just tell them you want to see how your face "reacts" to the product before you buy anything.....write down all the colors and go purchase similar colors from the Neutrogena brands....
Good Luck....I know what you're going through...I've been there myself....

MARY KAY. Their complete make-up collection, including Foundation is less than $150. It includes mascara, eye and lip liner, three eyeshadows, a lipstick and gloss, blush. If you want a make-over, you can find a mary kay consultant in your area to try before you buy. Plus, none of the make-up will break you out and it is guaranteed. Not to mention Mary Kay is almost always lower cost than department store prices.
Go to www.marykay.com if you want to find a consultant in your area,

I agree with the person that said Bare Essentials. I absolutely love that makeup. Not only is it actually good for your skin (major plus since you mentioned you have some acne), but it looks so natural when it's on your face, but still covers very well.
