kids need some fun and fantasy.
the problems do not arise from kids and santa, but rather from parents and santa...... if parents ...... (you know who you are..).... stopped trying to out-santa other parents then kids would be much better off....
A few simple but fun gifts are all the is required.

It all depends, some families do very well with the Santa myth. Others, however, can become confused when they find out the truth... they start to wonder, what can they trust you for, and what can they believe in. I would say, if you are a christan person... don't, they may not be willing to believe the bible. But if you really like the traditions, teach them to begin with that Santa isn't real, but keep the traditions(stockings, gifts labled from Santa)... Saint Nicolas was a very good man, but the legends he inspired can confuse and harm children for years to come...

oh wow..I think that kids today are slapped in the face with reality enough....
It's important that a child understand the true meaning of Christmas...and part of that is the spirit of giving. Tell your child about Santa, watch their little faces light up, let them leave cookies and milk.......but make sur ethey understand what Chrsitmas really means.

There's no use to lie about santa to your kids, everybody knows he is only a tale. So, i suggest you can share santa's tales in order to teach them the point of being generous, doing good deeds, so on... but don't lie to them that santa's coming tonight... anyway... lying is a sin right? :D

They're only young once. Let them have a dream. Also the letter is a very useful way of finding out what they want.

Let the kids "BELIEVE" as long as they can. How many times don't we say to ourselves I wish I could be a kid again? Let's give them a chance MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!

Let them find out on their own, they'll figure it out sooner or later.
