I'm re-tiling a shower but it is frequently used by others and I can't leave it for 3-4 days as recommended on the grout instructions. I tested this on 1 panel and it seemed to work, but some people have said this isn't a good idea and should dry naturally? Anyone have experience of this? Thanks

It will dry to quick and crack.

Not a good idea....as others have said it will crack.Drying with a hair dryer will only really dry the surface....As a matter of interest how big is the gap between the tiles??? 3 days to dry ???Normally only 24 hours max.Are you using ready mixed grout or powder that you mix? I have found that the latter is much easier to use and sets much more quickly. The premixed "fix and grout" contains both adhesive and grout.It is much thicker and hard to use.Also if you let it dry on the tiles it is a pain to get off.Clean it off immediately with a wet sponge.

If you don't let the grout cure and try to force the drying with a heater, you will end up with a weakened grout that will fail much more quickly. It would probably be better to go ahead and use the shower after the grout has cured enough that it is solid than to use heat to dry it out.

forcing the grout to odry increases the probability that it will crack and loosen, While the grout made be dry you are not allowing time for the grout to cure and get good adhesion to the tile.

Definitely let it dry naturally, though keeping the room reasonably warm at this time of year will help.
The others will just have to co-operate. Buy them a watering can, and tell them to stand in the bath!

Definitely not, it will crack and fall out and then you will have loads ff fun trying to do a repair which never quite works, try to arrange for the job to be done when most of your friends are away or have agreed on a date to not take a shower.
