If you have 44% more than your sister, you have 144% of what she has. In other words, you have 1.44 times what she has. So if you divide $16.52 by 1.44, you get $11.47.

Similarly, if you have 107% more, you have 2.07 times as much, so divide $1.97 by 2.07 to get $0.95.

!0 subtract what 444 % of what you got and then you know what you sister has !! the same in the secondproblem except this time its 107%

the work

16.52 X 44 % = 7.27 : 16.52 - 7.27 = 9.25 you sister has $ (.25

1.97 X 107% = 2.11 : 1.97 - 2.11 = - 0.14 there fore your sister has no money

The key word is "more." This should flag you to recognize that you start with 1 and grow from there...
44% more turns into 144% or 1.44
107% more turns into 207% or 2.07

From there, you just need to follow the rest of the math (identified by those who answered before me).
