The only systems that Animal Crossing is currently out for are Gamecube and Nintendo DS. There is an Animal Crossing game for the Wii in the works, but it won't be out till next year.

Yes they currently have 2 different versions of Animal Crossing. The one for the Nintendo game cube was the first and is ok, it allows for cheating though, by entering universal codes, some of which may mess up your game. Animal Crossing Wild World is for the Nintendo DS (duel screen) and I like that one better for the fact that it is portable, and you can connect with wireless internet (or WiFi) with other owners of the game across the world. Plus there are alot more features for the second one.
Side note, I can't wait for the Wii Animal Crossing to come out *shifty eyes*
