My rat escaped yesturday in our garage at around 6pm. We went to Pets at home and they gave us this small animal pet catcher that when the animal steps into it a door closes and you can safely get your pet back. We put bacon in it and just put it own. Do you think there is any chance of getting back I miss her shes called Katey and her freiends getting loneli :'(

One of my Rats escaped, thankfully only in the house. Try leaving the cage in Garage, My Rat soon came back to cage to play with her sister. They are clever animals and she will know her home / here here freinds, the fun of freedom will soon wear off. Also check that there is no way for her to get out of gargae? so she cant get lost, leave some food and water out for her too just incase.

I hope you get her back, my Ratties died a few months back and I still really miss them, so I know how you feel.

Good luck

Yes, as it is a pet rat it is not that good at looking after itself like a wild one , so there is a good chance it will come back home looking for food and then it will probably go for the easy food in the trap, I should put some of the stuff he /she likes as well. My daughter is always loosing her rats, and most of the time they turn up.

Well I've only every tried to catch a wild rat in one of those traps and I have to admit I've never been sucessful, though they are very effective for mice. Rats seem to be too clever for that. But if she know where her cage is and that there is food and shelter available she may just come back on her own.

Good luck finding her, I know how it feels to lose a pet like that.

I used one of those humane traps on my pet rat and it worked...but after that, she was too smart and it never worked again. So yes, there's a chance when she's hungry she'll come back and get trapped. I'm crossing my fingers for you/1

I hope it works. It worked for a friend of mine with their pet hamster. All you can do is try. It's cold outside so she may have stayed near to the house where it is warmer.
I hope you get her back.
