I need to replace the hard drive. I've heard lots of opinions that the SATA hard drive is much better than the older IDE hard drive but I don't know that my motherboard will support it. How can I find out? Thanks!

If you look inside, at your motherboard, the IDE slots are wide and have lots of pins. You can look for SATA slots which are about a half inch wide and will typically have a name next to them like "SATA1", "SATA2", etc.

The manufacturer's web site is the best place for answers like that. your users manual is available for download. also that hard drive will work with an adapter. BUT it will max out at 133 mb/s compared to sata 3 gb/s

It does not support SATA. It will support up to an ATA-133 IDE drive.

Greetings,

In my opinion, SATA hard drives are superior to the older IDE drives both due to speed and how much dang smaller the cables are.....that said, it appears, given the motherboard you have currently, you will have to stick with IDE for now. Please see:

Please see source for specifications and picture of your motherboard.
