Well they both have strong points and weaknesses. My choice would be Star Wars(the original episodes, not the new stuff..much)
Lord of the Rings as a mythology is somewhat lacking but the movies were done superbly, brilliant directing and acting.

Kind of hard to compare. LOTR is serious fantasy, while Star Wars is science fiction, very must the far away future, or the long ago past. If you're speaking of Episodes 1-3 (new) of S/Wars, no comparison - LOTR hands down. If S/W 4-6, both storylines probably attract the same crowd: the hero, the heroine, the evil lord of the empire type of thing. Personally, I loved both.

LOTR- because at least the movies go in order...I'm just starting to watch the Star Wars movies and I am beyond confused. Also, the special effects are better, the story line is better, the actors are better, and....it's just a better series than Star Wars. It's easier to follow and more interesting.

the original star wars by far.

The new crappy star wars sucks.

LOTR is a crappy story but the movie was well put together making it better than the crappy new star wars movies.

C'mon, a bunch of midgets plunk a peice of costume jewelry into a live volcano to save the world? CRAP!

At least if they veered from the story and had them die in the lava at the end at least it would have been better rather than waste my time with an extra hour of crap at the end.

I give it to the LOTR director though, he was able to make an enjoyable and entertaining trilogy with a horrible storyline and plot much credit to him.

Lord of the Rings was one of the basis for Star Wars. Star Wars took many elements and funneled them into one story. So it's like saying do you like the Grandfather or the grandson.

They both have their good points and their bad points.

My fave (from Star Wars) would be the original Episodes: A New Hope, Empire, and Return of the Jedi with Revenge of the Sith sneaking by only because I LOVE watching all the Jedis getting wiped out, and Yoda getting the royal smack down he deserved.

LOTR is just a very suprisingly well done movie trilogy. I didn't expect it to be that good.

The special FX, the actors who played the roles, and the director were all fantastic.

Your trying to compare apples to oranges.
Lord of the Rings is a Fantacy based, while Star Wars is Science Fiction based.

It's like asking which is better a Magical Sword or a Light Saber.
