In other shows men can sleep around and not be considered a dirty manwhore, but in SATC women sleep around and they are considered to be sluts? That doesn't make sense.

Men brand women who practise the same lifestyle as them (having one night stands, hooking up) "sluts" only because they want to control women and ensure that gender inequalities will ALWAYS exist!

If Samantha is a sIut, then so are many men. I say Samantha is the unusual role model for women - she is assertive, confident and comfortable with her sexuality! I am not telling women to behave like Samantha but you have to look at her as the bold example of what women can achieve if patriarchy do not exist in our society.

Plus she has the hottest boyfriend in the show!

SATC is all about empowerment of women. In shows women are treated as objects, SATC only even things out by having the women talk about men and their penises.

That's why many women love SATC and Samantha is such a cool character.

Look beyond their designer wear. This is supposed to be a light-hearted show, would we rather watch girls living in slums than in the big city? It's an escapade kind of show.

So ignore all the designer wear and look at how SATC portrays women. They aren't portrayed as sluttish or anything but rather they possess "masculine" qualities. And regarding them discussing sex so freely, what is wrong with that? They are matured woman in their 30s and ABOVE not teenagers. And I believe whatever they say are relevant and some women think about it but they do not dare to talk about it because we are supposed to be all hush-hush about sex if not we are whores.

No. It's big leagues trash.
Samantha is a well paid, well dressed, coiffured Barbie Doll in $400.00 shoes who sleeps around and goes to lunch with her friends who live the same lifestyle and all they talk about is sex.
They are all sluts, albiet made-to-look-cool sluts, but yes, sluts nevertheless and project the wrong image and message to and about women; just the image they think men want them to be... a well dressed air head who's only interest is to sleep with them at no cost.

Personally I think everyone comments suck. I love Sex in the City.
The truth is woman have been looked down upon since dawn of age. We are mens servents. Then feminist came out, speaking, but too strongly and too much gayness. Then sex in the city came, woman that are strong, independent. As for your children, do u think ur marraige is working, how many divorce exist in this day in age. Only one thing is for sure, yourself, can't depend on a man. Conservitive outlook is out the doors. 21th century, it is must for a woman to knock out any ideas of 1 man and woman ..all that emotional crap and it is time for woman to start growing balls and treating men as they treat us. No more attachments no more feelings, Its a war at there. You honest say your girls should fall for some loser and live life sadness, no I say impowerment. I say confidence. Thats learning to be individual, like sex in city woman.

Cant agree at all. The media tells us how they think men and women should be.

Thats a lot of pressure when real freedom is about being who and what we want to be without censure from others.

Most of us havnt a clue about what we want to be. We do know we want to be that which gives us the greatest happiness and self-fulfilment.

The Media has a disproportionate influence in this respect.

personally i hate that show (but i've only watched parts of one or two shows) and i think it has had nothing but negative effects on the younger generation. yes its wrong that men can have that lifestyle and women get called names but i also think its terrible to be showing kids that its completely fine to have a different guy in your bed every day of the week and not care about commitment or love. and we wonder why 11 year olds are getting involved with oral sex and not caring anything about it.

No. It teaches women to be materialistic and never form a meaningful relationship with a man. Sorry, but it is twenty huge steps back to the women's movement. I would put it up there with Playboy and Dr. Laura

OMG ! QUEEN BEE took the words right out of my mouth. Since in this country everybody is so celebrity obsessed that these women can be the sluttiest hoes in the world but since they're wearing their Manolo's while doing it,it suddenly became chic and acceptable as well.
