is it better to have known the beautiful, bad and ugly, (harboring the feelings on pain, loss, and confusion) or is it better to not have to know what you missed?

I would rather go to a nazi sadistic dentist with no anesthetic for multiple root canals than go through all those love horrors again. How's that?

The sadness of losing a loved one is a very painful emotion. The reason is because you had so much love and affection for that person and you are missing that feeling. If you have never loved, you will not have the feeling of loss which does sound beneficial but to have never experienced the 'plus' side is a huge loss in itself.

I believe it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. If you never had that feeling you will always wonder what it is like but even if you have lost, the pain of that loss reminds you what greatness you had.

If you think about it all we really have is memories and hope. We hope that we have a good day tomorrow but we cannot be sure. Our memories - good or bad - show us how life is real and in turn makes us human. To me it is always better to have been 'there'. A holiday for instance costs money, that money could be saved because when the holiday is over all you have are memories, some nice photos and perhaps a suntan - but those memories to me are more important than money in the bank. I know that was a bad example but my memories are very dear to me. I have some good ones.

Just wish i could put them on DVD :-)

It is better to have loved, and then lost. Because, if you have loved someone, and then lose them, you still have memories, good and bad. If you don't know what you've missed, then how do you know you've even missed anything?

Well, that's my theory anyway.....
Hope I helped <33

I think it is.
Its is much better you had love and you've lost it than you never receive love all your entire lifetime.
Love is everything and the most important thing in this life. Live is oxygen to everyone.

What then is this love slipping from my grip, why do I stand amazed. Why did I not understand , the love I am in search off has not yet arrived in this day. though I touched upon the warmth of it like a ray of light upon my lonesome soul. yes, I must wait a while longer and love will find me and I will know it to be the one also waiting for me. Oh, I will know Love when I am touched again, careful to ask are you thee? careful to Liston as my heart does begin to sing.this is in deed thy love, now to embrace and be embraced throughout our lives eternally.

I think its better to have not known at all. Much less painful that way.

i dont entirely agree with that
to begin with, you didnt really lose, yes youve lost the same feeling again or maybe the person you love
but in the end, you know you've never lost when that very same experience open your eyes to who you really are when inlove
& how much you can do in the name of love.
to never have loved at all is impossible.
