hmm, well yours is a little different since the rest are all related...
my co-workers and I usually have a little "secret santa" draw...set a price limit for the gift, choose names and at your christmas party or just one day at work, exchange presents. This way everyone's involved, those who don't want to participate don't have to, and you avoid the awkward, "do I get them something or not" and you don't have to buy for everyone!
OR just make cookies or fudge or something, fill christmas tins from the dollar store and give everyone some...relatively inexpensive and you've covered everyone at the same time.
Good luck! Merry Christmas!

I have never been in an office environment where Christmas presents were bought for all coworkers. Usually there is a work culture, and I would try to conform to that. Almost every year any office I have worked in has had a gift exchange. You pick one name out of a hat and purchase for that person only. They also usually set a $20 to $30 limit. If think that might be easier, you could suggest it, but it might not save much money. Buying a gift for the manager seems tacky to me. It's brown nosing. That they are manager suggests they make more money than you, and there you are broke, buying them something? It should be the other way around, the company should be showing you they appreciate you.

I usually give cards out to everyone and I give a gift if we have an exchange party. I have two special ladies that are the secretary and the administrative assistant that I give presents to though. I don't know the set up where you work but if it is a lot of employees and the kind of thing where if you give one and not the other that may cause problems...I would just give a card and the same inexpensive item ( but in good taste) to those that you interract with the most...

You know it really depends on the relationship you have with them and your budget....
I was in the military and moved around quite a bit....
In one place I worked, we bought gifts, really nice gifts for eachother....there were about 6 of us on my team....we had a super relationship and were really like family...At other places...I haven't so much as exchanged a greeting card with co-workers....I've also baked things like cookies, or loaves of banana bread or made cheesecakes and wrapped them up really pretty.....
I am in a new place this year....and I've got some really great folks that I work with and want to give them something...but there are too many folks to give anything really expensive...so I got a bunch of little lotions from Bath & Bodyworks that I will stick in a miniature stocking for the ladies, and I haven't come up with what I will do for the men, but it will be along the same lines....For my boss, I found a really nice business card display for her desk at Marshalls for under $10.00.
Again, it goes with your relationship and your budget...good luck, but don't stress over it....It's the thought that counts, and I'm sure they will be appreciative.
Good Luck....

no, i give them cards. I never mix business with socialization. They are coworkers, NOT friends, and I dont want to do anything to insinuate that I want anything to do with them AFTER the work day is over. This isnt to say that I dont like my coworkers, they are perfectly nice people, but in a work environment, tempers flare and if i am 'friendly' with a co-worker, it may make it difficult to conduct business, especially if I need to reprimand them or correct ther work.
I also do not attend any work related outings (Christmas Parties, etc). I am very popular at work and very cordial towards everyone I work with. I have no problems with anyone there, I just do not socialize with any of them outside of the office.

We don't do the gift exchange. Instead the day before we take off for a week, we all bring in goodies and chit chat during breaks or have a company lunch and b.s. Talk about what we will all be doing or play a silly game. They keep it simple. I would suggest to just bring in some baked goods.

I buy some coworkers that I am close too a little something but I think in your case....you may want to consider making something to eat or buy maybe a veggie tray or something like that. Something everyone can enjoy...especially since it is a family. It is the thought that counts and you seem to be very thoughtful. I don't think the gesture will go unappreciated. Happy Holidays.

It depends on how much you like them and how many of them there are. Most people just buy for their boss but, if the company is very small and you really like your coworkers go ahead. Try to keep the gift values equal. Dont buy for just a few though, its all or no one.

No. Usually companies have a Christmas party and they draw names to gift exchange.
If you must buy something for everybody, I would just bakes some Christmas cookies and bring them into the office for everybody.

I felt so embarrassed my first year at my company - I was there for only 2 months and didn't realize that all the women (mostly) gave each other gifts. Everyone got me a gift and I hadn't gotten anything for anyone! OOps!!!
Ever since then I do purchase small gifts (usually under $10) for my coworkers - photo albums, gloves, scarfs, candles, etc. Its thoughtful and fun.
